I am Dr. Lamya Kamal

As soon as healing takes place, go out and heal somebody else.
-Maya Angelou

I’m a Specialist in Family Medicine, whose mission is to provide accurate guidance to people who struggle with issues such as PCOS, insulin resistance, obesity, low self-esteem, and poor mental and physical health. Through a compassionate and evidence-based approach, I aim to improve your overall well-being, fostering a healthier and more confident community.

I earned my BSc Hons from the University of St Andrews, followed by my MBChB from the University of Manchester. I further specialised in Family Medicine, completing my MRCGP with CCT from NHS Education for Scotland, UK. Additionally, I hold a Diploma in Gynaecology from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. With 7 years of experience post-medical school, I am well-equipped to provide expert care.

My Story

My journey to wellness has been confusing and full of self-doubt until I stepped back, took time to reflect and changed my approach towards healing from that of frustration to patience, and from negativity to compassion.

Having experienced the helplessness of health issues — helping my clients heal, for me, is a personal cause.

I am passionate about providing my clients with a safe space and a sustainable lifestyle that makes healing easier, less complicated, and hassle-free for them.

My Approach

My approach to wellness starts with trying to understand what your body’s state of health is like and what are the underlying causes of your health issues.

We then start with making small daily changes in your lifestyle that help in —

  • Creating a sense of control,
  • Building a positive approach towards healing
  • Preventing the health issues from worsening, and
  • Minimising symptom severity

We then work towards treating your health issue, one sustainable step at a time.

The whole approach comes down to building a harmonious connection between your mind, and body and moving towards holistic healing, rather than focusing on symptoms and suppressing the root issues in our bodies.

Testimonials

Lovely chat and spoke to me about the concerns I had about the pains in my wrists and elbows. Made me feel calm and listened to and happy that she is seeing me to examine it further.

Dr Kamal was very easy to talk to and I feel she made it easier for me to explain my symptoms. And when it came time to discuss medications, she was very good at explaining everything to me.

Friendly and very understanding and helpful and clearly took time to read my notes and understand my medication i take currently.

Dr Kamal was lovely she listened to me, and I felt she explained the decisions made clear and easy for me to understand at both visits, she made it easy to talk to her about what was bothering me.

Dr Kamal is very friendly and professional. She's the doctor I ask when I make an appointment for myself, my husband and children. She is always helpful and resolves the our health concerns.

My medical needs have been advised and helped by Doctor Kamal. She is a very professional in her care and had me feel relaxed and able to talk freely within the time I have been in surgery with her.

Frequently Asked Questions

Holistic treatment starts with healing your relationship with your body first, and then working on your overall well-being rather than focusing on suppressing symptoms and avoiding the root cause of issues in our bodies.

I also offer medication and standard treatments that are practised in Western healthcare, but I don’t advocate excessive reliance on medications as long-term solutions.

Depends on specific cases. Generally, we may not require more than 3-5 sessions, 1:1 sessions, however chronic and complicated health issues may need a more comprehensive approach.

While I am available for general consultations, I also work with people looking to address issues such as chronic pain management, hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, obesity, low self-esteem, and poor mental and physical health.

I help my clients to address their hormonal conditions (e.g. PCOS, thyroid, reproductive disorders) with the right food choices leading to reduced medication and even reversal of the condition.

Being healthy isn’t merely the ability of your body to function at a bare minimum. It is the optimal functioning of the body, mind and spirit.

If you’re feeling constantly tired, have recurring health complaints, or have persistent digestive issues, stress, or anxiety — these all are signs that your body (and mind) need additional care.

Additionally, I always recommend that people ensure routine health checkups every 6 months to proactively work on their health and keep health issues at bay.
